ARDEX Launches Groundbreaking CircuTec Mortar Technology
Pioneering Circular Tiling for Sustainable Construction
Witten, October 22, 2025: ARDEX is setting new standards in sustainable construction with the introduction of its CircuTec mortar technology. Tiles can now be installed, removed, and recycled without compromising on quality or workability. The first CircuTec products will be launched in Germany and the Benelux region starting in October 2025.
Renovation often means noise, dust, and waste — but ARDEX aims to change that. With CircuTec, tiles up to 0.36 m² (e.g. 60 x 60 cm) can be installed securely and later removed with ease. The tiles can then be reused or recycled, marking a major milestone toward circular construction. “Until now, circular construction with tiles hasn’t been feasible on a large scale,” says Lukas Hädicke, Managing Director of ARDEX Germany. “We’re excited to advance this topic quickly and broadly with our CircuTec technology.” This innovation aligns perfectly with ARDEX’s “Building Tomorrow” strategy, which focuses on driving sustainable progress in construction.
“We want to lead innovation in sustainable building,” explains Dr. Patrick Pues, who heads new technologies and life cycle assessment at ARDEX R&D. “ARDEX CircuTec reduces CO₂ emissions significantly — not only because tiles can be reused or recycled, but also because CircuTec products themselves contain much less cement, giving them a smaller carbon footprint.”
Compared to the lowest industry standard for tile adhesives, CircuTec generates up to 70% less CO₂ in the product stage.
Proven in Practice
On-site applications remain familiar for professionals.
“In principle, nothing changes during installation,” says Sven Brändlein, tiler and Deputy Head of ARDEX Technical Service. “CircuTec offers the same excellent working properties as our other mortars — that was crucial for us.”
ARDEX involved tilers early in the development process as test users, receiving positive feedback on handling and usability. “Sustainable construction is a team effort,” adds Brändlein. “CircuTec is user-friendly and makes circular tiling accessible on a broad scale.”

Easy to Install – and Easy to Remove
While installation feels the same, tile removal is where CircuTec shines. Tiles can be detached using standard tools, often intact, and reused. If broken, they can still be recycled into new tiles. Residues on the substrate are easy to remove, reducing dust, noise, waste, and labor time.
“It’s a true win-win — saving resources, time, and effort for everyone from building owners and architects to contractors,” says Hädicke.
Due to the high degree of innovation, no existing industry standard yet applies to the technology.

Collaboration with Mosa: The Re-Tile System
CircuTec works with all standard tiles. Next to marketing it directly, ARDEX has partnered with Dutch tile manufacturer Mosa, known for its Cradle-to-Cradle Gold certified products. Together, they developed the Re-Tile System, under which Mosa guarantees the take-back and recycling of tiles installed with CircuTec under defined conditions — closing the loop for circular tiling.
