• Concerned with grout staining
• Tile installation would be hygienic
• Short time frame for installation
• Closures and interruptions during installation
The Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries was scheduled to move to a new location in the spring of 2012. The Bascon, Inc., architectural team was asked to develop the design blueprint. Because the Ministry had very specific design expectations, Bascon contacted ARDEX Scandinavia to offer solutions for the project.
ARDEX Scandinavia presented ARDEX EG8 Cement/Epoxy Hybrid Grout and Adhesive to Bascon. ARDEX EG8 Grout is non-staining and rapid setting which addressed two initial concerns for the architects. Immediately convinced, Bascon requested a grout sample set to show the Ministry. Once the Ministry approved ARDEX EG8, the architects decided to use ARDEX tile products for the rest of the project.
ARDEX A35 Rapid Setting and Ultra Rapid Drying Cement for Floor Screeds was used for pre-leveling the floors, because of its rapid drying properties. This allowed for minimal down time renovation areas. ARDEX 8+9™ Waterproofing Compound was used in wet areas as top down water proofing. In highly critical areas, ARDEX EG8 was used as both a grout and tile adhesive. In areas that were less demanding, ARDEX X 701 ShearFlex® Mortar was selected.
ARDEX fulfilled the expectations of Bascon, Inc., and the Ministry and allowed the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark office building to open on schedule in April 2012.
