The five-star solution: Schloss Velden Hotel on Lake Wörthersee
Before work even started, this hotel situated in the centre of an exclusive luxury resort made international headlines. Apart from its exquisite location and the charming mix of historical and modern architecture, the unique thing about this project is the high quality of the individual residences’ interiors.
To ensure undisturbed relaxation of the very highest calibre, both the spiral stairs requiring refurbishment in the existing hotel and the stairs in the new building were provided with the ARDEX DS 40 impact sound reduction and decoupling system.
Just 4.5 mm thick and offering a reduction in impact sound of up to 14 dB, ARDEX DS 40 is the ideal choice for interior use below ceramic, cement-based or stone tiles. This impact sound insulation also functions perfectly on particularly critical substrates such as old floorboards or asphalt. This is because ARDEX DS 40 not only bridges over any cracks, but also compensates for different stresses in substrate and floor covering. Of course, the mats are absolutely odourless and safe to human health because, in contrast to many other systems, they contain neither solvents nor chlorine, PVC or plasticisers.
Incidentally, the site management spearheaded by Fliesen Colazzo from Kühnsdorf fully embraced the ARDEX system concept in implementing the installation work. In other words, the ARDEX DS 40 mats were first attached to the stairs with ARDEX 8+9 waterproofing compound. Then, the natural stone tiles were laid in a mortar bed of ARDEX FB 9 L pourable thin set mortar.
